What is Structured Cabling & Why it is used ?
"Standard " is to define a method of connecting all types of vendors voice & data equipment, over a cabling system that uses a common media, common connectors and a common topology. This means that a building can be cabled for all its communications needs without the planner or architecture even having to know what type of equipment will be used.
There are three main cabling standards.
- EIA/TIA 568 A ---> American standard and was the first to be published on 1991.
- ISO/IEC 11801 ---> International Standard.
- CENELEC EN 50173 ---> European Standard (British version is BSEN 50173) .
TERMS:
- Cable Tie
- Patch Panel
- PVC pipe of Casing
- IO Box
- RJ45 connectors
- Cat 5e/6/7 cable
- Wall mount Box.
1Cable Length :- Theoretically for CAT 5e/6/7 length is 100 meter but in practice it should not more than 90 meter for best result.
2.Cable Route :- Should be planned to avoid fluorescent light fittings and power cables. They should not be run in the same conduit of power line, or the same channel of a trunking system, and where they are run parallel to power line they must be at least 60mm apart.
3. Bunch of Cable :- Do not tie more than 48 LAN cables in a bunch and they should be tied at minimum 500mm intervals.
4. In Patch Panel :- Cable ties must be fitted to the individual RJ45 modules in patch panels and outlets to support each cable. Do not forget to give the cable numbers.
5. Wall Mount Box:- Box Should be earthed.
